How Common is Your Fetish?

Let’s face it: we do not know much about fetishes in terms of real data. All we know is our own subjective experience and the things we have seen from others. That is too small of a sample to get any real conclusions.
That changed with the results of a study published in the International Journal of Impotence Research about the frequency of different fetishes and their categories. The researchers statistically broke down online discussion groups with over 150,000 members, although the number of actual participants was estimated to be around 5,000, and they found some interesting results.
As you can see in the chart, the categories were body parts (think breast men), objects associated with the body (clothing/shoes), other people’s behavior (being whipped, for example), one’s own behavior (i.e. tying up a partner), social behavior (hot for teacher), and objects unrelated to the body (think tree humpers here).
Amongst those fixated on body parts, 47% focused on the feet and toes, while 64% of those turned on by objects associated with the body named footwear as their weakness. Clearly, fetishes related to the feet were a big winner here. Interestingly, a handful of those in the survey expressed an affinity for hearing aids, and a couple of people even stated pacemakers as their turn-on. That is definitely a new one.
Overall, this was an interesting look at the numbers behind fetishes. Some things seemed obvious, while others came as a surprise. Surely some of the percentages caught you off guard as well.
